From the Ashes, Art Will Rise: Support rebuilding the devastated Le Chalet Crepuscule sculpture garden

The renowned artist Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule has suffered a devastating loss: the cruel destruction of his unique sculpture park in rural Belgium. This profound act of vandalism represents not only a significant material blow but also a heartbreaking assault on years of dedicated creative spirit. Your urgent support is crucial to help Orryelle rebuild his extraordinary, ecologically-minded art and restore a vital beacon of independent artistic expression.

DESTROYED: Hekate Rexchthon; Clay, wood, roots, epoxy, metal (skeleton), hair, bones, lace, fabrics.

I am deeply saddened to find out the terrible news that the artist Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule has been the victim of a cruel and unjustified desecration of the Le Chalet Crepuscule sculpture garden that he has been building in the Belgian Ardennes. Oryelle is a gifted artist working in a variety of media, but his sculptures are truly special, and it has long been my plan to go to Belgium and see them in situ in the beautiful forest. He’s been working on the sculpture park for some time; unfortunately, because he’s an itinerant artist travelling the world for exhibitions and performances, he has to leave his property from time to time. He returned home recently to discover that vandals had completely destroyed his work. Not only is this a considerable material loss, but it is also a tragedy for the creative spirit that went into the making of these works.

Sadly, nothing can bring the works back, but it will be possible to rebuild with the support of the artistic community. Those who love art need to help Orryelle rebuild and make new work; it will take time and an enormous amount of energy. However, the task remains achievable. Therefore, I am reaching out to you, my readers, to consider donating to this very worthwhile project. If there’s any way you can spare anything at all, it will always help. Orryelle is an artist whose work is eminently rooted in sustainability; he is the most ecologically minded artist I know. He is in touch with the whole earth, and even the artwork that has been destroyed will find its way into the soil, where it will nurture another generation of worms, insects, and wildlife. We must see his creative work, and only we can help. He is unsupported by government arts councils and the like; he relies on people who love his work and buy his work and, in this case, hopefully will donate to him.
