Astro Arts Festival 2025 keeps Vancouver’s mural culture thriving with live painting, DJs, an art market, open studios, and the 100 Amigos exhibition.
“THE ASTRO ARTS FESTIVAL 2025 SERVES TO HONOUR AND CONTINUE THE POWERFUL IMPACT OF URBAN ART AND MURALISM ON VANCOUVER’S COMMUNITY.”
I was very sad to hear about the demise of the Vancouver Mural Festival. Like so many arts initiatives in the city it fell victim to lack of funds. Sadly although there’s an awful lot of money in the city so little of it goes into the arts. But wonderfully the Astro arts organisation has stepped in to create a lovely summer festival which I attended last weekend.
The mini fest featured live mural painting, producing a lot of amazing murals DJs food trucks and a really lovely art market where I bought a few bits and pieces and also the Astro open Studios and a great exhibition called 100 Amigos. All of which was really first class artwork and I saw many pieces that I would’ve been very happy to buy if they weren’t already sold. I bought a great print from Maya Ondine Calypso that will look beautiful framed in my home.
I had a great afternoon there and by all accounts it was very successful. I hope the event continues. There are many talented artists in Vancouver and they deserve to be seen!
